Airline fuel prices causing cuts in jobs
With the high costs of fuel, it looks like Delta has announced it will cut jobs and offer early retirements to it's employees. I just heard United is grounding several airplanes due to the fuel costs and as a result will have to lay off several pilots. How will this affect flight attendant hiring? My guess is that with Delta, they will see how many flight attendants take the early retirement and will then hire accordingly. It will cost them less to have new hires than the senior flight attendants at top pay. With regards to United, it could mean they will need less new hires. This could be the result of all the hiring for all airlines if they are affected by the high fuel costs.
